Superfood Summer Smoothie

With summer in full swing, I find smoothies to be one of the most refreshing and healthy things to kick start your day. I have been making a superfood smoothie that nourishes your body with everything it needs to be performing at its best.I love having it first thing in the morning or after a workout to get my body energized, help it recover, and keep it healthy and strong.

 The Superfood Ingredients

Organic Almond Milk – A great base that helps improve vision, weight loss, healthy skin, blood pressure and heart health.

Hemp Hearts – A complete protein that contains healthy omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, and is packed with tons of vitamins and minerals including vitamins A, B1, B2, D and E, along with calcium and iron.

Flax Meal – A great source of fibre and omega-3 fatty acids, it has been shown to help protect against breast cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer.

Chia Seeds – They are loaded with fibre and antioxidants, and are a great source of healthy protein, fat and calcium. The high amounts of magnesium and phosphorus also help keep your bones healthy and strong.

Spirulina – This superfood has so many benefits to make your body a powerhouse. It has the highest concentration of protein of any known food. It is super rich in vitamins, minerals, and a special antioxidant called phycocyanin, they all help in promoting a healthy gut flora, detoxifying your body of heavy metals and boosting energy.

Camu Camu Berry – The world’s highest source of vitamin C, it strengthens your immune system, protects against viruses and cancer, while helping you glow by creating healthy skin, hair and nails.

Daily Turmeric Nutrient Booster Powder – It helps your cells and tissues recover after a workout, it reduces inflammation, and it aids your body in responding to physical and mental stress.

The Recipe

1 cup almond milk
1 tbsp. almond butter
1 tbsp. hemp hearts
1 tbsp. flax meal
1 tbsp. chia seeds
1 tsp. spirulina
1 tsp. camu camu berry
1 tbsp. cacao powder
1 scoop daily turmeric powder
1 scoop greens powder
1 serving of codyceps, reishi and chaga mushrooms
1 cup leafy greens
1 cup mixed berries

Add water for desired consistency and blend.

I know this is a lot of superfood ingredients, but even if you can add a few to your smoothie, you’ll notice you’re going to have higher energy and be glowing from the inside out.
