3 Game Changers To Getting Fit

Body

Time to make some power moves! Here are some ways that will help empower you to reach your fitness goals and find your love for fitness again.

1.  Go Back To The Beginning and Find Your Passion

Think back to when you were a kid and remember a time of movement where you felt freedom and pure joy. Maybe it was swimming in the lake at your cabin, dancing to your favourite music, or riding your bike with friends. For me, I remember running through the grass, feeling like I was unstoppable with the wind beneath my feet. Take your moment and think about what activity you could be doing now to get that same feeling. Get in touch with exercise again and find what activity makes you feel your best.

Focus on what activities make you feel good and pick ones that play to your strengths. Feel the joy and empowerment that comes from treating exercise not as a chore but as something that invigorates you to live life to the fullest.

2.  Make It Gamified and Set a Program

Make your fitness fun to stick to. You can do this by setting goals and rewarding yourself with each accomplishment. There are also lots of apps and programs to help you create fitness goals and track progress. My friends and family, including myself have gotten a Fitbit. It helps you set goals, celebrate successes, and track activity, sleep and food. It also allows you to challenge and cheer your Fitbit friends. It’s a fun tool to bring awareness to your active lifestyle.

When you’re working out, have a set program in place. It will help you work more effectively, progress quicker, and keep you challenged. Following a program breaks up your goals in bite size chunks and helps hold you accountable. Create your own or try looking online for a program that meets your needs. There are great weight training programs, cycling programs, yoga programs and more. I personally love the Nike Running app, it has a great coaching program that gives you a 6-12 week training program based on your distance and fitness level. Another great tool is the Nike Training Club, it has tons of workouts and videos to help you get in shape.

3.  Solidify Your Fitness Goals

What are the reasons you’re getting fit? Make sure these are engrained in your mind and strong enough to get you out of bed in the morning. Do you want to run a 5k non stop, look great in your favourite jeans, play with your kids more, be proactive about an illness, or be around to see you grandchildren grow up. Really take the time to think about your reasons and set your intention to that everyday. Visualize yourself reaching your goal, the steps you’ll need to take, and how’s it going to feel. Think about how it will change your life and benefit those around you.

Rethink fitness and what it means to you.

With love,

Lucy
