The Wise Words Of A Monk

Mind

I recently heard Geshe Michael Roach speak about how your mind creates your reality. He shares his experiences as a monk and the practice of planting seeds in your life. He has used this training to become a prominent international teacher, businessman, philanthropist, and author. He has been very successful, graduating with honours from Princeton University and receiving the Presidential Scholar Medal from the President of the United States. His philosophy of planting seeds helps individuals create the future they want, while also helping others. This concept is simple for you to implement in your life and the actions you take can have a rippling effect on those around you.

Planting Seeds In Our Lives

To achieve whatever you are looking for in life, start by helping others. If we want things to show up in our life, we need to plant seeds in ways that are intended to help others with similar desires achieve their goals. By creating these intentions and taking the right steps we can create what we want in our own lives.

How to Start Planting Seeds

  1. Say what it is you want in your life, in a single short sentence.
  2. Look at a person or multiple people in your life who you can help achieve the same thing.
  3. Start trying to help them – tune in and understand how they need help, then plan where in their life you can help them.
  4. At the end of each day reflect on who you helped and what value it brought.

If you want to build stronger relationships, you could try looking someone in the eye, holding their arm
and telling them how they are appreciated or how grateful you are to have them.

If you are looking to further your career, start helping people with their work, projects or goals – ask how
you can help and be of value.

If you want to achieve a fitness goal, look to see how you could start helping someone else along the
same path achieve his or hers.

If you want to break a habit or change your lifestyle, help someone embrace their struggle and see the benefits of their transformation.

What you do, what you say, and what you think plants seeds in your mind. These seeds stay in your subconscious and they come forward into your actions, your words and interactions to create your life. The more you nurture these seeds, the larger the impact they will have on your life.

Planting seeds helps us achieve our goals and innate desires by helping others. It is a simple thing to do and by setting this intention you feel a sense of purpose and joy from giving back. By planting seeds we can create stronger and happier communities focused on helping one another with kindness and compassion.

Start planting some seeds and enjoy!

With love,

Lucy
